Valorant icebox map3/30/2024 It doesn't help that some Valorant players have found themselves queued up into the same map repeatedly. When it arrives, Icebox will only be Valorant's fifth map, so as one can imagine, the map rotation can become a little stale when there are so few to choose from. It's hard to imagine that the Valorant community will complain about getting a new map earlier than anticipated, especially since they've been asking for new additions for a while now. Admittedly, Donlon also stated that Riot could deviate from this plan, but the fact that it's doing so this early in Valorant's life is unexpected. With that in mind, most fans would have expected Icebox to arrive in Episode 2, which comes after Episode 1, Act 3, in a little over two months. Anna Donlon, an executive producer on Valorant, stated right after the game launched that Riot would only be releasing new maps every Episode, not every Act. But for your first few matches on the new map, if you stick to these tips and tricks you will have a big advantage over your opponents. It's somewhat of a surprise that a new Valorant map is coming this early. Of course, as soon as the community at large gets to play on Icebox there will no doubt be some more crazy strategies and secrets discovered. Even some of the pro players in the test would fail to check these corners because they seem like such a poor place to hide, but if you have a shotgun you can easily take them out and retreat in relative safety. Both of these feature small boxes and little hiding places in the walls, and the amount of times attackers failed to check these is incredible. If you take the main route to B from the attacker spawn, not through the mid or kitchen areas, then you will have two long open corridors to go down. Always check every corner on the approach to B from attacker spawn A well-placed smoke can conceal your teleport and then you are in an unsuspecting position with an almost unobstructed view of the mid area. There’s a chance this might be fixed or changed by the time that Icebox goes live on the live servers, but in the testing build, some players discovered that they can easily teleport onto the top of the container that acts as a ramp to the kitchen when playing as Omen on the attacking side. It may look cool, but only use this when you are certain no one else is around. However, using this leaves you insanely exposed, everyone on the site will be able to see you, and you will have no real chance to defend yourself. The big unique feature of this map is the zipline on the A site, which can give you access to a very powerful position at the top of the site. Tips and tricksīe careful with the zipline. A smart plant can mean you can stand back all the way close to the attacker spawn and still hit them with an arrow. On the A site, as the defending team, well-placed recon bolts into the part of the map only accessible via zip line, especially if shot from the mid entrance to the site so you can still cover that area, can reveal a whole team who are pushing onto the A site.įor the B site, as it is very open, there aren’t many great spots to hide a recon bolt, but there are a ton of opportunities to stop plants or defuses with shock bolts thanks to the angled containers at the back of the site. Anyone will be able to fire a recon bolt over these and get a surprise advantage. But the main wall blocking the mid area is simply some shipping containers, which are not very tall at all. However, there are a few spots that have been discovered so far that can be useful for gaining intel.Ī lot of players will try to bounce a recon arrow down the mid corridor off the sides of the containers and walls to get a glimpse of their opponents, however, this will be seen by everyone in that area and is very easy to shoot. With the impending launch of Skye, who fills a very similar role to Sova, the importance of lineups for recon arrows and similar abilities is lessened, and with half the map being indoors they can easily be wasted.
